Thinking about pre-ordering?
Before you buy, consider the competition:
Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium is coming to Singapore soon, and offers really unique features such as a 4K HDR display and a camera capable of taking slow motion at 960fps.
The LG G6 launches in Singapore on 14th April for a cheaper price of $988. The G6’s body and screen have a similar design to the S8, and it sports a dual camera on the back.
The iPhone 7 just launched in red, and still holds its ground as one of the most powerful flagships out there. No doubt it’s expensive, but it’s worth considering as an alternative to the S8.
Many of 2016’s flagship phones are selling at a very affordable price. If you don’t need the latest and the greatest, you can consider the HTC 10, which goes at S$570.
Have a hands on experience for yourself
Although the phones and pre-order bonuses look really attractive, we highly recommend that you have a hands-on experience with the phone yourself. Samsung will have a pop-up store called Galaxy Studio, which opens 14th April 2017, 11:00am at Ngee Ann City’s Civic Plaza. It is a great opportunity for users to have a hands on experience with the devices and their accessories before pulling the trigger.
Phones are very personal devices, and preference for features really varies from individual to individual. Features may seem attractive at first glance, but can actually affect the user experience negatively after using the device for a while. For example, we personally thought that the curved edges of the Galaxy S6 Edge looked great at first, but started to have second thoughts when we realized that the edged screen had a really annoying glare when under a light source, distorted full-screen content at times, and was also vulnerable to damage. On the flipside, others may feel that the edge and infinity display are the best features on Samsung phones to date.
Regardless, we highly recommend to have a hands on session with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ at Galaxy Studio.
