What on earth can you do with a Nokia 3310 in 2017?

  • Calls and SMS
  • Photos and videos (Be warned, it’s only a 2MP camera with a LED flash).
  • Listen to FM Radio! Anyone up for 987fm on the go?
  • Listen to your own music – there’s only 16mb of storage but you can add in MicroSD cards up to 32GB and fill em up with your tunes.
  • Check your calendar.
  • Set alarms
  • Make voice and text notes
  • Calculator
  • Weather
  • Surf the internet (very, very slowly on 3G)
  • And best of all:

Nokia 3310 Snake

If you remember Snake on a phone, you’re old.

What can’t you do?

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Whatsapp
  • Wechat
  • GPS and Maps
  • Mobile Payments and NFC
  • Modern Apps
  • You get the idea.

That sounds like really useless, even next to my 10 year old smartphone. Who on earth would buy this?

Yes, the Nokia 3310 3G is VERY barebones and feature limited, but think about it – it could be the perfect phone for:

  • Consumers looking for a cheap, durable phone just for calls and text
  • Parents who want to stay connected with their kids, but unwilling to introduce them fully to the wild world of apps, games and the internet
  • Our foreign worker friends who can’t afford a smartphone just yet and need to stay in touch with their friends and family at home
  • The elderly who are used to feature phones and can’t transition over to the modern day Samsung or iPhone
  • Hipsters who want to look cool
  • 90’s kids who are desperate to play Snake again

The Nokia 3310 3G launches in Singapore 14 October and will be sold at a price of S$99. It’s a little high considering that you can buy a Xiaomi Redmi 4A smartphone for just $58 dollars more – but well – for those on a budget, every dollar counts.

The Nokia 3310 will come in Charcoal and Warm Red and can be purchased at Courts, Harvey Norman, Challenger, Gain City, Sprint Cass, Mustafa, and selected authorised retailers such as:
